This policy applies to personal information collected, held, used and disclosed by Sceáwian Pty Ltd in Australia.

What we collect

We collect only the personal information reasonably necessary for our functions, including engagement scoping, conflict-check, delivery of intelligence and investigation services, and administration of client relationships.

How we collect it

Directly from the individual, from the engaging client, from lawful open sources, or from third parties where lawfully permitted and consistent with the engagement.

Use and disclosure

Personal information is used only for the purpose for which it was collected, related purposes an individual would reasonably expect, or where authorised by law. We do not sell personal information.

Sensitive information

Sensitive information is collected only with consent, where authorised by law, or where necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim.

Security

Personal information is stored and transmitted under strong encryption, access controls and audit logging. Sensitive material is delivered only via secure channels, not public forms or unencrypted email.

Retention and destruction

Personal information is retained only as long as required for the engagement, our legal obligations or defensible retention of evidence, and is then securely destroyed or de-identified.

Overseas disclosure

Where information is disclosed overseas, for example in cross-border diligence, this is done only in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Access and correction

Individuals may request access to personal information Sceáwian holds about them, and correction where it is inaccurate, subject to applicable exceptions.

Complaints

Privacy complaints may be made in writing to privacy@sceawian.com.au. Unresolved complaints may be referred to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

This policy is reviewed periodically. Material changes will be published on this page.
